Actualmente registramos nuestros contactos telefónicos en teléfonos móviles, en ordenadores u otras aplicaciones, casi siempre utilizando la tecnología para nuestro beneficio. Sin embargo, sabemos que no siempre fue así, en el pasado todos estos contactos estaban al lado del dispositivo telefónico de la casa, en la agenda telefónica.
La idea del uso de este material en la terapia llegó un hermoso día cuando entré en la casa de un paciente y me encontré con una «copia» de una vieja agenda telefónica. Inmediatamente, abandoné la idea que había planeado para este día y empecé a:
1. Hablar sobre cómo la paciente y su familia registraban los contactos telefónicos, y así llegamos a la agenda;
2. Buscar dónde estaba la agenda telefónica (usando el momento para evaluar el uso; saber si todavía era usada para escribir los contactos o buscarlos a la hora de llamar a alguien);
3. Hojear la agenda (utilicé el orden alfabético) y leer los nombres de personas y servicios con la anciana, recuperando quiénes eran esos contactos, evocando recuerdos de características físicas, historias, etc.
Con esta persona mayor mencionada en la historia, utilicé este recurso durante tres sesiones y en todas ellas, la señora se sorprendió y comentó: «Dios mío, no he visto / no he hablado / no he escuchado hace tanto tiempo»; «Lo llamaré en cuanto termine aquí»; «Ah, recordé una historia sobre esta persona que es muy buena».
De todos modos, después de estas sesiones, me entusiasmó construir materiales y pensar en otras actividades usando estos contactos telefónicos.
Con otros pacientes, con diferentes necesidades, la agenda telefónica pudo ser usada de algunas maneras como:
– Les pedí que transcribiera con el cuidador los contactos telefónicos que aún usaba (esto incluía la compra de la agenda, el uso del dictado – además del ejercicio de la transcripción escrita);
– Elegí al azar algunos contactos y les pedí que se colocaran en orden alfabético y, según el grado de intimidad, el orden cronológico, es decir, desde el más antiguo hasta el más joven, y, finalmente, que el paciente buscase esos contactos en la agenda.
O sea, se puede usar y personalizar el material de muchas maneras, ¿no?
